Ok; as it stands now it's probably going to be just me with Alex Perry coming for a half day; but I'll put you in for a pass so you can decide at the end what you want to do. I'm going to try to pick up a machine or two from equipment management here so I'll have something to show apache and a few xen clients beating it up/upgrading continuously. > What would you think about getting some Debian-logo gear printed up > (I could use a new baseball hat, and it's hard to even find ones > without buttons on top)? Typical web prices are around $3 for a screen printed logo on top of a standard $5-$10 item, varying by quantity. Minimum quanties are usually a couple dozen. For the last couple of years we wanted something for SCALE but the logistics never worked out. I will split the cost with you on any remaining items. If you do not bear all the risk alone, we can find a sweet spot on order size and keep a small inventory locally. There is also the option to ship any excess supplies to the next convention being held. I will be glad to pay the shipping fee if we can recoup the original outlay. What they can do on this schedule is embroidery. They're digitizing the Debian Open Use logo, and will have it ready Saturday 5:00 (the swirl won't have the small hanging pieces, too hard on the machines/digitizer to have so many separate runs). Digitizing the logo was $40, and they can then stick it on any item in their catalog for $5-$6 each, in any quantity from 1 to hundreds. You can also get letters & numbers stitched on for $0.50-$1.50/letter. We'll be able to call them at 1-877-39SHIRT to place orders there in the future on demand, and then go pick them up. It doesn't make much sense to me to stick a $6 logo on a $3 t-shirt, so what I'm thinking: Denim shirts, various sizes, about $20 each up to XXL. $30 for XXXXXXL). Sell for $25-$35? (Or maybe just $30 each to simplify everything). Add our uid to our own if wanted. Maybe add some similarly priced sweatshirts too, or infant rompers for Christmas shopping. Their catalog is 281 pages, and the pricelist 51 pages. Some typical items (add $6 for logo): t-shirts $3.33 - $15 polo shirts $8 - $30 denim shirts $15 - $26 twill shirts $16 - $36 sweatshirts $6 - $25 sweatpants $17 - $24 shorts $9 - $15 baseball caps $4.50 - $6.50 winter hats $5 visors $5 bandannas $2 towels $1 - $11 windbreakers $26 - $58 toddler shirts $3 - $12 toddler bibs $3 - $4 duffel bags $4 - $15 96-CD case $8 ... Out on the web I turned up a special on t-shirts. www.abbotwear.com. Basically about $1000 for 250 shirts with a single one-color logo. The time is probably too short to get them for ApacheCon (maybe we'd get lucky), but we could place the order now and certainly have more than enough for several SCALEs. I'd go for a black logo on a stack of grey shirts, but I'm boring. -- To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail ecartis@scd.debian.net with a subject of `unsubscribe scd'. If they sell at 4*30 + 4*15 + 16*20, that'll be $500 for a $440 investment and 2 volunteers time over 3 days. $60 for 6 days time doesn't sound like that much. Can we raise the price another $5 each to make it worth the effort, or should we just view it as a marketing exercise? Sorry Blars, they only had in-store stock up to 2XL. They can stitch the logo onto anything for $5. Special orders up to 6XL are available, but they wouldn't have arrived by Sunday. The hats should fit anyone. Maybe I should have ordered more of them, but I was already cringing. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron. -- Dwight Eisenhower, April 16, 1953 http://www.donarmstrong.com http://rzlab.ucr.edu -- Attached file included as plaintext by Ecartis -- -- File: signature.asc -- Desc: Digital signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFDm7OmgcCJIoCND9ARAgUiAKCAsIlKDqG+8GajMfK2PRSYbSnsbgCgvZlj rl2IU5FBkaRs4cYK3wDx+Sw= =gIYa -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail ecartis@scd.debian.net with a subject of `unsubscribe scd'. It'll be a day sail out of Marina del Rey leaving ~11:00 (earlier if I can get everyone there by then), probably to Palos Verdes and a stop in King's Harbor for lunch. There's a tall ship festival in MDR this weekend and next, so we may see some gun battles on the return in the evening. It's also almost whale watching season. Hi Drake, I am definitely interested. Do I just show up at your place around 11am tomorrow? I can arrive earlier, if necessary. I managed to sell a grand total of one polo and two hats, but that was close to 100% of the people who asked me about Debian logo containing goodies. The conference is probably a bit too small to bother spending much effort on a booth there; in the future I'd expect one day with one person should be more than enough to saturate the people who are interested in Debian.
